Overview

Amnesia Ibiza 2016. Rest assured you’re in for a summer you won’t forget.

A staple food in the mischievous Ibiza diet since the 1970s, Amnesia is an unique institute in San Antonio that provides party goers with an outlet for the biggest and best in house, techno and trance music. Possessing two immense dancing spaces and numerous bars, it’s hard to argue with the history of countless ???Best Global Club??? awards the raging music mecca has received.

The Main Room resembles a dark abyss that echoes house and techno through Amnesia’s custom made sound system, complete with an upstairs VIP lounge and table service. The DJ booth is on floor level which gives you an intimate experience with the artists playing, but beware of getting too close as the infamous ice machines might see you secluded from reality in a fit of smokey coughs.

Drink Prices: ???12-15 or more for a spirt and mixer, ???10 for a beer and water is ???8.

History

Originally a family home passed through five generations, the building was sold to a widow from an aristocratic background. In 1976, a man called Antonio Escohotado decided to rent the property and transform it into a discotheque named ???The Workshop of Forgetfulness’. Wanting to create a place where people go out at night to forget their problems and indulge in an unknown fantasy far from ordinary routine, he realised the Greek word Amnesia contains it all.

Once famous for its open air clubbing until the 1990s, the Amnesia Terrace is now a rectangular greenhouse terrace, complete with palm trees and a glass roof allowing a daylight rave for those who make it past 7am on the ???sunrise dancefloor???.

1994 saw the invasion of the Scousers on Thursday nights, with the infamous Cream proudly remaining Amnesia’s longest standing party. Another long living event at Amnesia, Matin??e was first held at the club in 1998 and since then many rival promoters have tried and failed to imitate the dynamic success of the paradisiacal party. Cocoon was the first party to arrive on Monday nights in 1999 and has stayed ever since, with the pied piper of minimal tech Sven V??th being the first to bring the trademark style to the island.
